ADVANCE, Mo. -- David Dalton Powers, 80, of Advance passed away Sunday, Jan. 9, 2022, at the Advance Nursing Center.
He was born April 1, 1941, in Tallapoosa, Missouri, the son of True Victor and Wilma Gladys Bryant Powers. David and Shelba Senciboy were united in marriage on Aug. 29, 1959, in Shawneetown, Illinois, and she preceded him in death in 1991.
David was the head mechanic at Powers Brothers Standard Station and Plaza Tire. He attended school at Rock Point and Advance High School.
In his younger years he was a farmer and loved old tractors. David was a scrap metal recycler, picking up scrap metal in the Advance area. He also enjoyed coaching youth baseball in Cape Girardeau.
David always had a smile and a joke. He loved his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Survivors include three sons, David Powers of Cape Girardeau, Jerry Powers of Pleasant Plains, Illinois, and Lance Powers of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Tammy Powers of Cape Girardeau; four brothers, John Powers of St. Louis, James C. Powers of Cape Girardeau, Dwight Powers of Cape Girardeau and Chester Powers of Advance; six grandchildren, Justin, Ashley, Erin, Shelby, Lynsey and Ty; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Shelba Powers; three brothers, True Victor Powers Jr., Doyle Powers and Roger Powers; three sisters, Lenora, Margie Lou and Doris; and two grandsons, Tommy Powers and Kevin Graham.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance.
A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the chapel with the Rev. Gary Cooper officiating. Burial will follow at Morgan Memorial Park in Advance.
