SCOTT CITY, Mo. -- David Lee McSwain, 54, of St. Louis died Monday, March 4, 2002, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
He was born Jan. 13, 1948, in Cape Girardeau, son of James Lee and Mary Magdalen Burger McSwain. He married Cheri Lynn McKee Jan 1, 2002, at Commerce, Mo.
He was a member of Seven Holy Founders Catholic Church in St. Louis. He was a graduate of Illmo-Scott City High School and Southeast Missouri State University. While in high school, he played in a local band called "The Jaguars." He taught school at Bell City, Mo., and Scott City during the early 1970s.
He was a computer programmer for Ralston Purina, Peabody Coal, Brown Shoe Co. and Enterprise Rent-A-Car Inc. in St. Louis.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Mark McSwain of St. Louis; two brothers, Bruce McSwain of Memphis, Tenn., and Danny McSwain of Scott City; a sister, Carol Innis of St. Louis; and a grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City. Parish prayers will be said at 8 p.m.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Scott City, with the Rev. David Coon officiating. Burial will be in St. Lawrence Catholic Cemetery in New Hamburg, Mo.
