David Leon Gohn, 63, of Richmond, Indiana, passed away peacefully Friday, Nov. 22, 2014, at the Neurological Center at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

He was born Sept. 5, 1941, and raised in Jackson as a farm boy. As a child he learned to love all kinds of outdoor activities, such as hunting and fishing and later snowmobiling and downhill skiing. He had a real passion for golf and spent many happy hours with his wife on the links.

Giving to others was an important part of his life. He was an active member of St. Andrew's Church and enjoyed visiting parishioners in nursing homes, and drove handicapped parishioners to church for 10 years. He also was a member of the Kiwanis Club, Knights of Columbus and Cursillo. When he no longer felt comfortable driving others, he stepped up to organize and arrange the scheduling for other drivers. He had a passion for life that was infectious. There was never a problem, situation or job that was too challenging for him. His love for God, his family, friends and dogs was obvious to anyone he met. He was a master at storytelling and enjoyed sharing his tales and jokes.

He attended Purdue University in Indiana and became a mechanical engineer. He worked for Ford, Atlas Plastics, United Technologies, Preferred Plastics and Primex Plastics. His career gave him the opportunity to share his vast knowledge in the field of plastics. He started from that small town boy on the farm and went on to become a plant manager for many years and retired in 2011 from Primex Plastics as their technical director.

He leaves behind his wife, Barbara (Brenton) Gohn; son, Todd (Beth) Gohn; daughter, Traci (Eric) Lagacy; three grandchildren, Kelsey (Nick) Reehl, and Autumn and Jeremiah Gohn; and a brother, George Layton Gohn.
