David I. Bruce, 58, of Jackson passed away Monday, March 24, 2008, at his home.
He was born Nov. 8, 1949, in Cape Girardeau, son of Irwin W. and Helen H. Aufdenberg Bruce. He and Linda K. Winder were married Jan. 10, 1971, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson.
David served 20 years in the U.S. Air Force from March 19, 1970, to April 9, 1990. He worked in ground-air communications, retiring as a master sergeant.
When David and Linda moved back to Jackson, he briefly worked at the former Quality Copiers and Beverly Healthcare, both in Cape Girardeau. Most recently he worked 12 years as a closed-circuit television technician at Securitas.
In addition to Linda, his wife of 37 years, he is survived by two sons, David Scott (Amy) Bruce and Chris (Cindy) Bruce of Jackson; a grandson, Truett; and two stepgrandchildren, Ridge and Myra.
Also surviving is his father, Irwin Bruce; two brothers, Gary (Barb) Bruce and Rodney Bruce, all of Jackson.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Bruce.
Friends may call Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Ron Inkenbrandt officiating. A committal service will be held Friday at noon at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield with full military honors.
