ST. MARY, Mo. -- Darwin F. Rodewald, 77, of St. Mary died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2004, at Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital in Ste. Genevieve, Mo. He was born Nov. 30, 1926, in Ava, Ill., son of Rudolph and Blanche Eggers Rodewald. He and Ruby R. Amberger were married April 15, 1951...

ST. MARY, Mo. -- Darwin F. Rodewald, 77, of St. Mary died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2004, at Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital in Ste. Genevieve, Mo.

He was born Nov. 30, 1926, in Ava, Ill., son of Rudolph and Blanche Eggers Rodewald. He and Ruby R. Amberger were married April 15, 1951.

Rodewald was a farmer. He was a member of River Hills Eagles 4034, American Legion Post 133 in Perryville, and life member of VFW Post 4282 in Perryville.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Karen Sue Rodewald and Nancee Favier of Perryville, Mo., Janice Cole of St. Mary; three sons, Darwin Allen, Marvin "Butch" and Donald "Dino" Rodewald, all of Perryville; two brothers, Evert Rodewald of Campbell Hill, Ill., the Rev. Alfred Rodewald of Concordia, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers.

Friends may call at Young and Sons Funeral Home in Perryville from 4 to 9 p.m. today, and Thursday from 6:30 a.m. until time of service. A VFW service will be held at 7 tonight.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Matthew Marks officiating. Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, with military graveside rites by American Legion Post 133.
