JONESBORO, Ill. -- Darris Ayers, 72, of Jonesboro died Friday, Oct. 6, 2000, at a nursing home in Murphysboro, Ill.
He was born Nov. 7. 1927, the son of Willie Paul and Mary Agnes Hamilton Ayers. He and Birdie Turner were married were married in 1956 in Streator, Ill.
Ayers was a Korean War veteran and a retired employee of Gould Battery Co.
Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Marilyn Ayers and Darla Kirchner of Kankakee, Ill., Brenda Freeman of Sullivan, Mo., and Carla Phalin of Jonesboro; two brothers, Kermit Ayers of Anna, Ill, and Matt Ayers of Balcom, Ill.; a sister, Bobbie Rossman of Elk Grove Village, Ill.; and nine grandchildren.
Friends may call at Lutz & Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna from 6-8 p.m. Sunday.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. The Rev. Dale Jones will officiate, with burial following.
