FESTUS, Mo. — Darrell D. Lorenz, 68, of Festus passed away Sunday, Dec. 29, 2019, at his home. He was born Nov. 14, 1951, in Perryville, Missouri, the son of Berniece D. Schlimpert Lorenz of Jackson and the late Edgar R. Lorenz. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Donna Bridges Lorenz; sons, Dustin Lorenz of Abilene, Texas, and Devin Lorenz of Festus; sister, Marsha (Jim) Buchheit of Longtown, Missouri; brother, Dwayne (Paula) Lorenz of Sikeston, Missouri; and numerous nieces and nephews. ...

FESTUS, Mo. — Darrell D. Lorenz, 68, of Festus passed away Sunday, Dec. 29, 2019, at his home.

He was born Nov. 14, 1951, in Perryville, Missouri, the son of Berniece D. Schlimpert Lorenz of Jackson and the late Edgar R. Lorenz.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Donna Bridges Lorenz; sons, Dustin Lorenz of Abilene, Texas, and Devin Lorenz of Festus; sister, Marsha (Jim) Buchheit of Longtown, Missouri; brother, Dwayne (Paula) Lorenz of Sikeston, Missouri; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Darrell was an eighth-grade teacher for the Sikeston School District, and later a financial adviser and insurance broker for 40 years. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Crystal City, Missouri; served as zone president of Lutheran Hour Ministries; was a member of the Sikeston branch of National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, and was a former assistant scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 426 in Festus.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Crystal City.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the church, officiated by Pastors Kyle Castens and Jarold Rux. Interment following at 2:30 p.m. in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Shawneetown, Missouri.

Memorials in Darrell’s memory are preferred to Lutheran Hour Ministries.
