Darlene Jeffries

Darlene A. Jeffries, 79, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of Cairo, Illinois, died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2018, at Fountainbleau Lodge.

She was born April 11, 1939, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Vernon W. and Ocy Miller Nye. She and H. Larry Jeffries were married in 1965 at Cairo. He preceded her in death Sept. 7, 1998.

She enjoyed needle pointing and sewing.

She was a member of First Church of God in Cairo and later attended the Presbyterian Church in Cairo.

Survivors include a sister, Lois Roberts of Cape Girardeau; a brother, the Rev. Dale (Dorothy) Nye of Anderson, Indiana; and nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother-in-law, Jake Roberts.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau, with the Rev. Donny Ford officiating. Burial will be at Mound City National Cemetery in Mound City, Illinois.
