Danny Upchurch

Danny R. Upchurch, 59, of Cape Girardeau, died Saturday, July 1, 2006, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born April 9, 1947, in Cape Girardeau, son of John P. and Sybil E. Gallant Upchurch. He and Kathy Hale were married on September 6, 1986, in Cape Girardeau.

Upchurch was a member of Bethany Baptist Church. He worked for the Central Meat Packing Plant and for Bethel Assembly of God Church in maintenance. He had been a foster parent for 17 years, was active in the Foster Parent Association and the St. Jude Children Fund. For more than 20 years he was a youth leader at Iona Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy Upchurch, of Cape Girardeau; his mother, Sybil E. Upchurch of Cape Girardeau; three sons, Keith Upchurch of Springfield, Mo., Donald Trapp and Jon Upchurch both of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Rachel Upchurch and Kassie Upchurch both of Cape Girardeau; one brother, David Upchurch of Belton, Mo. and two sisters, Pat Copeland and Debbie Kinder, both of Cape Girardeau.

He was preceded in death by his father and a brother.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford & Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Shawn Wasson officiating. Burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park.
