Daniel "Danny" Stephen Smith, 27, of Jacksonville, N.C., formerly of Scott City, died Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004. He was born Oct. 25, 1976, in Blytheville, Ark., son of Floyd and Suzanne Shaw Smith. He and Kim Southall were married Aug. 3, 2002. Smith was a staff sergeant with the U.S. Marines. He was employed as an airframe mechanic with Marine Helicopter Training Squadron 302, Marine Aircraft Group 29. He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church...

Daniel "Danny" Stephen Smith, 27, of Jacksonville, N.C., formerly of Scott City, died Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004.

He was born Oct. 25, 1976, in Blytheville, Ark., son of Floyd and Suzanne Shaw Smith. He and Kim Southall were married Aug. 3, 2002.

Smith was a staff sergeant with the U.S. Marines. He was employed as an airframe mechanic with Marine Helicopter Training Squadron 302, Marine Aircraft Group 29. He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife; a son and daughter, Kevin and Anna, both of Jacksonville; his father and stepmother, Floyd and Karen Smith of Scott City; paternal grandparents, Dorris and Lillian Smith of Scott City; maternal grandmothers, Leona Shaw of Cape Girardeau, Laverne Stoll of Festus, Mo.; three brothers, Kenneth Smith of Scott City, Chad Smith of St. Charles, Mo., Brian Smith of St. Peters, Mo.; and a sister, Jennifer Martens of Bellevue, Neb.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City. Parish prayers will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Kelso, Mo., with the Rev. Oliver Clavin officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery at Perryville, Mo.
