Danny L. Barks, 73, of Jackson, passed away Monday, June 28, 2021, at his home. He was born Oct. 30, 1947, in Cape Girardeau, son of Loy V. and Lillie L. Wallis Barks. He and Kathy Holmes were married Jan. 30, 1999. Danny was a 1965 graduate of Central High School in Cape Girardeau, and attended Southeast Missouri State University. He enlisted in the U.S. Army National Guard on Aug. 21, 1966, and was honorably discharged Aug. 20, 1972...

Danny L. Barks, 73, of Jackson, passed away Monday, June 28, 2021, at his home.

He was born Oct. 30, 1947, in Cape Girardeau, son of Loy V. and Lillie L. Wallis Barks. He and Kathy Holmes were married Jan. 30, 1999.

Danny was a 1965 graduate of Central High School in Cape Girardeau, and attended Southeast Missouri State University. He enlisted in the U.S. Army National Guard on Aug. 21, 1966, and was honorably discharged Aug. 20, 1972.

He worked for the Missouri Highway Department for 10 years, and retired as supervisor from Southeast Missouri Stone Co. in Cape Girardeau. Danny was a member of LaCroix United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau, the Elks Lodge in Cape Girardeau, a life member of HOG (Harley Owners Group) and the Harold O. Grauel Lodge in Cape Girardeau, from which he received a 50 year pin. Danny and Kathy enjoyed riding the motorcycle.

Loving survivors include his wife of 22 years, Kathy Barks of Jackson; a son, Kyle M. Barks of Cape Girardeau; and a number of nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Janis Reimann.

A celebration of life visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Eks Lodge in Cape Girardeau.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to Safe Harbor Animal Sanctuary or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
