ANNA, Ill. -- Daniel Monroe "Dan" Murrie, 86, of Anna, died Sunday, March 12, 1995, at Union County Hospital.
He was born May 24, 1908, in Vienna, son of Newton J. and Mary Elizabeth McCall Murrie. He and Clare Henehan were married Dec. 1, 1945, in Cobden.
Murrie was a technician at the former Anna State Hospital 37 years, He was chosen Psychiatric Aide of the Year on the state and national levels in 1952. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife; five sons, James Murrie of Park Forest, Stephen Murrie of Union, Mo., Michael Murrie of Ventura, Calif., John Murrie of Vienna, Joe Murrie of Anna; two daughters, Katherine Murrie of Manassas, Va., Mary Ann Burden of Sunland, Calif.; five sisters, Betty Lowe of Marion, Emma Carter and Velma Bartholme of Vienna, Flo Moeller of Marion, Lena Reed of Texas; three brothers, Max Grinnell of Vandalia, Charlie Murrie of Arizona, Lowell Murrie of Centralia, and 13 grandchildren.
Friends may call at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna after 6 p.m. Friday. A wake will be held at 7:30.
Funeral mass will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Church, with the Rev. Tom Miller officiating. Burial will be in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery in New Burnside.
