Daniel L. "Danny" Hale, 79, of Jackson passed away Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2009, at Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau, where he had lived the past nine years.

He was born May 17, 1930, in Jackson, to Warren and Elva Blaylock Hale.

Hale was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean conflict.

Upon returning home, he was employed at the former International Shoe Factory in Jackson. Unfortunately, when his health began to decline, he was forced to retire early, but he continued to enjoy working at various handy jobs, such as mowing yards and delivering newspapers for the Cash-Book Journal.

Danny was a longtime member of First Baptist Church and Altenthal-Joerns American Legion in Jackson.

Loving survivors include two brothers, Sam (Imogene) Hale of Jackson and Jerry Hale of Lakeland, Fla.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and three sisters.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jim Matthews officiating. Interment will follow in Iona Church Cemetery in Oriole.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Jackson Senior Citizens Center or Missouri Veterans Home.
