Daniel Coomer

Daniel "Joe" Coomer, 67, of Whitewater died Tuesday, April 28, 2015, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born, July 7, 1947, in Advance, Missouri, to Albert and Laura Williams Coomer. He and Patricia Cass Coomer were married Sept. 24, 1995, in Reno, Nevada.

Joe served his country in the U.S. Army in Korea during the Vietnam War.

He was director of operations for Holland Co. 35 years. He loved golfing and animals, especially his six dogs. He was of the Baptist belief.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Coomer of Whitewater; two sons, Philip Coomer of San Antonio and Daniel Joe "Joey" Coomer Jr. of Erin, Tennessee; a daughter, Dani Taylor of Plano, Texas; a brother, Jack Coomer of Whitewater; a sister, Edna Holt of Carlyle, Illinois; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau, with the Rev. Donny Ford officiating. Burial will be in Williams Cemetery near Perkins, Missouri.
