BENTON, Mo. -- Daniel Brian Mothershead, 19, of Benton died Tuesday, June 6, 2000, near Benton.
He was born Nov. 1, 1980, in Cape Girardeau, son of Robert and Christy Dodson Mothershead.
Mothershead was valedictorian of Kelly High School class of 1999. He was Mr. KHS 1999 and a Boys State delegate. His high school activities included: FFA, track, FBLA, Foreign Language Club, Beta Club, basketball, cross country, Student Council, and yearbook staff.
He was a member of Scott City Swim Team 10 years, swim team coach for 2000, and Junior Olympics swimmer. He was a Junior Hawks basketball coach, the AG ambassador for the University of Missouri in Columbia, and member of First Baptist Church in Oran.
Survivors include his mother; a brother, Andrew Mothershead of the home; paternal grandparents, Hoyt and Betty Mothershead of Benton; maternal grandparents, Bill and Ruth Dodson of Benton; many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Mothershead, Feb. 7, 2000.
Visitation will be Friday, June 9, at 4 p.m. at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Benton. Visitation on Saturday, June 10, will be at First Baptist Church from 1 p.m. until service time.
Funeral will be at 5 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ed Carter officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens at Morley.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Daniel B. Mothershead Memorial Scholarship Fund at Union Planters Bank, P.O. Box 35, Benton, Mo., 63736.
