Dallas Ray Owens, 74, died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010, at his residence in the Eastside Hunting Lodge in Villa Ridge, Ill. Born April 27, 1936, at Malden, Mo., to the late A.E. and Pauline Qualls Owens, he was a member of the Coast Guard Reserve. Dallas Ray Owens, 74, died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010, at his residence in the Eastside Hunting Lodge in Villa Ridge, Ill.

Born April 27, 1936, at Malden, Mo., to the late A.E. and Pauline Qualls Owens, he was a member of the Coast Guard Reserve. He was owner and operator of the Dallas Owens farm and had farmed his entire life, first in Mississippi County, Mo., and then in Villa Ridge until his retirement. He was currently the manager of the Eastside Hunting Club at Villa Ridge. He was of the Baptist faith and was a member of the Mounds, Ill., VFW post.

On April 30, 1955, he married Betty Loflin, who survives of the home.

Also surviving are one son, Keith Owens of Paducah, Ky.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Vicki and Monte Penney of Murray, Ky., Carolyn and Chuck Elrod of Cleveland, Tenn.; two brothers, Edward Owens of Olive Branch, Ill., William "Bill" Owens of Charleston, Mo.; four grandsons; one granddaughter; and one great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Bonnie Owens Morgan, and one sister, Phyllis Bright.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston, Mo., where funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Monday, with Rev. Gary Vacca, pastor of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Murray, officiating.

Interment will follow in the IOOF Cemetery near Charleston under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Rusty Dakin, Chad Seiler, Michael Vujovich, Dallas Elrod, Bruce Wilson, Lewis Potts, Andy French and John Keisler.
