Dale Jean Penny, 81, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, Dec. 1, 2008, at Southeast Missouri Hospital. He was a resident of Missouri Veterans Home.
He was born June 26, 1927, in Oak Ridge, son of Lee and Lulu Kurre Penny. He first married Pat Brooks. He then married Wilma Skelton July 26, 1955.
Penny was a carpenter.
He served in the U.S. Army from Nov. 7, 1945, to Jan. 8, 1947.
Survivors include 10 sons, Terry Penny of Jackson, David and Robert Penny of Cape Girardeau, Allen Penny of Missouri, James Penny of Scott City, Lee Martin of Advance, Mo., John Martin of Chaffee, Mo., Michael and Steven Audas of Texas, Daniel Tucker of Perryville, Mo.; four daughters, Cheryl Sides of Jackson, Luella Harvell of Hawaii, Linda Held of Minot, N.D., Pamela Brethold of Patton, Mo.; 24 grandchildren; and several great- grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield with full military rites.
