SIKESTON -- Daisy Byrd, 79, formerly of 535 E. Gladys St. in Sikeston, died Jan. 23, 1993, at the Miner Nursing Center in Miner.

She was born Nov. 29, 1913, near Brilliant, Ala., to the late William F. and Mattie Jane Dodd Burnett. She was a homemaker, and was a member of the Shady Acres Church of Christ in Sikeston.

She married Goerge W. Byrd Sr. on Feb. 28, 1932, in Marion County, Ala., He preceded her in death on March 23, 1969.

She is survived by three sons, Matthew R. Byrd and Leetis L. Byrd of Bertrand, and George W. Bird Jr. of Texarkana, Ark.; three daughters, Lenora Goza of Sikeston, Lucille Taylor of Haleyville, Ala., and Willie Mae Young of New Madrid; one sister, Ila Turner of Kokomo, Ind.; 18 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, a grandson, a granddaughter, three brothers and three sisters.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel, with the Rev. Carl Addison, past of Tanner Street Church of God in Sikeston, officiating. He will be assisted by Associate Pastor Roy Ferguson.

Burial will be in memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston.
