BLOOMFIELD -- Dail Howard, 82, of Bloomfield, died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2000, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. He was born June 6, 1917, at Bloomfield, son of Harmon and Florence Alma Capps Howard. He and Louise Harper were married. She died in March 1956. He and Margaret Roberts Montgomery were later married. She died in September 1983...

BLOOMFIELD -- Dail Howard, 82, of Bloomfield, died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2000, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born June 6, 1917, at Bloomfield, son of Harmon and Florence Alma Capps Howard. He and Louise Harper were married. She died in March 1956. He and Margaret Roberts Montgomery were later married. She died in September 1983.

He and Blanche Taylor were married Aug. 19, 1984. She survives.

Howard was a member of First Baptist Church in Bloomfield and served as a deacon. He was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church in Chaffee. He had worked as an engineer for the Frisco Railroad before retiring. He also was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Engineers.

Other survivors include three sons, Larry and Kenneth Howard, both of Jackson and William Howard of Sikeston; two stepdaughters, Mary Kay Smith and Linda Susan Gosche, both of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Hallie Bennett of Charlotte, N.C., eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield.

Service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Greg Greason and Jack Bishop officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
