EAST PRAIRIE -- Funeral service for Cynthia Erlene Heil of East Prairie will be held at 2 p.m. today at Shelby Funeral Chapel here. Harold Norton, David Dowdy and Lannie Younger will officiate, with burial in Dogwood Cemetery near here.
Heil, 92, died Thursday, Sept. 8, 1994, at East Prairie Nursing Center.
She was born April 13, 1902, in the Dogwood community, daughter of George Madison and Cora Emaline Wood Crews. She and George Benjamin Heil were married June 15, 1925. He died Nov. 2, 1976.
Heil attended East Prairie High School and Southeast Missouri State University. She taught in a rural school for a year, was secretary for W.C. Pope and Pope Motors from 1933-51, was personal secretary for Pope from 1951-63, and was employed by Mississippi County Farm Bureau from 1954 until retiring in 1968.
She was a notary public 40 years, and member of the United Methodist Church in Dogwood.
Survivors include two sons, Benjamin Heil of the home, Billy Heil of Green Forest, Ark.; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers.
