Curtis N. "Curt" Winchester, 87, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, Aug. 28, 2003, at his home.

He was born June 21, 1916, at Kennett, Mo., son of Jasper Marion and Mary Catherine Masters Winchester. He and Ethel Emma Wright were married July 5, 1944, in Pocahontas, Ark. She died June 4, 1980.

Winchester was a self-employed automobile mechanic. He had lived in Cape Girardeau 70 years.

Survivors include a son, Cletus Winchester of Cape Girardeau; three daughters, Janet Lowes of McClure, Ill., LaVerne Aufdenberg of Jackson, Peggy Moore of Cape Girardeau; a stepson, Bill Dewrock of Flint, Mich.; two stepdaughters, Eva Thiele and Frances Burton of Cape Girardeau; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, two stepsons, two stepdaughters, two brothers, three sisters, and a grandson.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. today.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Cy Smith officiating. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery.
