BERNIE -- Curtis Oliver, 73, of Bernie died Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2000, at the Beverly Health and Rehabilitation Center at Dexter.
He was born June 11, 1926, the son of Burd and Minnie Harold Oliver. He married Sylvia Bryan at Bloomfield on April 10, 1976. She survives.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, receiving the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, Philippine Liberation with one Bronze Star, a Victory Medal and a Good Conduct Medal.
He was retired, enjoyed attending auctions and working in his yard and garden.
He also is survived by five daughters, Dorothy Holmes of Sikeston, Karen Gentles of East Prairie, Jana Jennings, Maggie Bryan and Terri King, all of Bernie; three sisters, Bernita Beerwester of Washington state, Hallene Williams of Sikeston and Delores Bundy of Texas; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at the Rainey Funeral Home in Bernie.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Rainey Chapel, with the Rev. O.H. Brooks of Malden officiating.
Burial will be at the Bernie Cemetery.
