DEXTER -- Coy Gaines, 86, died Friday, Feb. 26, 1999, at the Beverly Health & Rehabilitation Center in Dexter.
He was born near Dexter on June 12, 1912, son of the late Fount and Sadie Gordon Gaines.
On Feb. 13, 1937, he married Owetta Rogers in Bloomfield. She died Aug. 13, 1988. On Feb. 16, 1989, he was married to Elmyra Steinbeck.
He was retired from farming and had lived in the Dexter area all his life. He was a member of the Dudley Church of Christ.
Survivors include three brothers, Leo Gaines of Winter Haven, Fla., and Elvin and Clayton Gaines, both of Dexter; and a sister, Thelma Stacey of Dexter.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
Friends may call at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter from 5 to 8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in the Watkins & Sons Chapel, with Brother Dale Grissom officiating.
Interment will be in the Armsted Dowdy Cemetery near Dexter.
