CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Cornelius "Corky" Heisserer, 97, of Chaffee passed away Saturday, March 22, 2014, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born March 17, 1917, to the late Frank and Sophia Goetz Heisserer. He married Imogene LeGrand on April 24, 1944. She preceded him in death Dec. 23, 2000.
Corky was a self-employed farmer. He was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Chaffee and was a member of St. Ambrose Men's club. He was a sergeant in the Army during World War II and he served in the 29th fighting squadron.
He is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee. Parish prayers will be at 5:30 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Chaffee, with the Rev. Randy Tochtrop as celebrant.
Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Morley, Mo., with full military honors by the Missouri Honor Guard.
