JONESBORO, Ill. -- Corlis R. Powles, 77, of Jonesboro died Thursday, Nov. 4, 2004, at his home.

He was born Jan. 18, 1927, in Jonesboro, son of Robert R. and Clara A. Brown Powles. He and Shirley Penninger were married March 26, 1932, in Osceola, Ark.

Powles was a concrete finisher. He was a member of First Christian Church in Anna, Ill., Plasterers and Cement Masons Local 143, 32nd Degree Mason and member of Anna Masonic Lodge 520 AF&AM and Ainad Shrine.

He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy.

Survivors include his wife.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.

Friends may call at Hileman Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with Dee Armes officiating. Burial will be in Anna Cemetery.
