Cora Arlene Mabrey, 75, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, March 2, 2018.

She was born June 4, 1942, to John Wesley and Elda Earle Miller.

She and Billie Mabrey were married Aug. 17, 1963, at Riverton, Missouri.

She was a 1960 graduate of Doniphan (Missouri) High School. She also earned bachelor's and master's degrees from Southeast Missouri State University.

After two years at Valley Park, Missouri, she taught business education classes at McCluer High School in Florissant, Missouri, for 28 years and had been department chairwoman. She also worked with Comfort Keepers and volunteered with groups such as AARP tax aide and adult literacy.

Arlene was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She enjoyed working with the casserole committee and liked to sew and garden, as well as work on many craft projects. Another hobby was meeting people and competing in the Senior Olympic games.

Survivors include her husband, Billie J. Mabrey of Cape Girardeau; mother, Elda Miller of Doniphan; and a brother, Raleigh (Norma) Miller of Doniphan. She also leaves a niece and a nephew, as well as numerous cousins, friends and many lives she touched as a teacher.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral will follow at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Dr. Barry Winders officiating. Burial will be at Pine Cemetery in Doniphan.
