Cora Grigsby

Cora Elizabeth Grigsby, 95, of Cape Girardeau passed away Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2019, at Saint Francis Medical Center.

She was born May 14, 1923, in Cairo, Illinois, to the late George Thomas and Doris Marie Borgard Jarrett. She and Gerald Grigsby were married June 1, 1946, in Paducah, Kentucky.

Cora served in the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1946.

Cora attended Mount Auburn Christian Church, where she also cleaned for many years. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Loving survivors include daughters, Geralyn (Michael) Cray of Cape Girardeau and Carla (Monty) Dodson of Thebes, Illinois; grandchildren, Yvaughna Maglone, Vaughn Hinkebein Jr. and Jason Grigsby; great-grandchildren, Tyler Dodd, Deonna, Hailley and Angel Maglone and Autumn and Samuel Hinkebein; and great-great-grandchildren, Hunter Dodd and Paisley Wright.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with Pastor Stan Hargis officiating. Entombment will follow at Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the family.
