Funeral service for Colby Albert Curtis of Belton was held May 26 at Belton United Methodist Church. Private burial was in Belton Cemetery.
Curtis, 79, died Friday, May 23, 1997, at Beautiful Savior Home and Manor in Belton.
He was born Sept. 3, 1917, in Manchester, Iowa, son of Colby Allen and Sarah Katherine Curtis. He married the former Ruth Alice Hardison.
Curtis built numerous houses and a motel in the El Dorado Springs area. He moved to the Kansas City area in 1955. He built custom cabinets for a time, and retired in 1979 as a civilian in the Civil Engineering Squadron at Richards-Gebaur Air Force Base.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Thomas Curtis of Olathe, Kan., Dwight Curtis of Libertyville, Ill.; two daughters, Dee Anne Hansen of Farmington, Nancy Beever of Dillon, Mont.; two brothers, Henry Curtis of Branson, Robert Curtis of El Dorado Springs; three sisters, Mildred Gerecke of Cape Girardeau, June Brandenburg and Helen Carver of El Dorado Springs; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
