FENTON, Mo. -- Cody A. Myers, 23, of Fenton was fatally injured Saturday, Aug. 10, 2013, in a car accident in Scott County. He and his cousin, Wade Myers, were on their way home from the rodeo.
He was born Dec. 28, 1989, at Cape Girardeau to Angela Myers and Gary Smith. He attended Jackson R-2 Elementary School and was a 2008 graduate of Rockwood High School in St. Louis. He also attended the Missouri Military Academy in Mexico, Mo., and Vatterott College in St. Louis.
Cody worked in metal fabrication and was employed at Mueller Fabrication in Sunset Hills, Mo. He was an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Loving survivors include two children, Austin and Mallory Myers of Fenton; mother, Angie (the late Roger, April 5, 2013) Griffith of Cape Girardeau; his father, Gary (Kim) Smith of Sikeston, Mo.; two sisters, Jessica and Brittany Griffith of Cape Girardeau; a stepbrother, Jesse Adamson, and stepsister, Duawne Adamson, both of Sikeston; maternal grandparents, Linda (Bill) Ross of Fenton, and Jimmie (Rose) Myers of Chaffee, Mo.; paternal grandparents, Tom and Jean Smith of Sikeston; maternal aunt, Becky (Mark) Schwartz and their son, the late Wade Myers; maternal uncle, Stephen Myers, and his children, Taylor and Nathan, of Marquand, Mo.; paternal uncle, Tony (Linda) Smith, and their sons, Chad and Bradley, all of Sikeston.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau. The Rev. Tom Kiefer will lead parish prayers at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Tom Kiefer officiating.
Interment will follow in Goshen Cemetery near Oak Ridge.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
