Cody H. Hurley, 79, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, Jan. 1, 1999, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born May 2, 1919, at Portageville, son of John Valley and Maude Box Hurley.
On Oct. 4, 1941, he married Ruth Cossou at Benton. She survives of Cape Girardeau.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the Red Arrow division of the Army, the 128th Infantry, 32nd Company in Germany and New Guinea. He was an active member of VFW Post 3838. He was a real-estate broker with Town and Country Real Estate and Century 21 Real Estate, retiring in 1981. He was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Joe Hurley of Charlotte, N.C., and Cody L. Hurley of Grandview; five daughters, Betty Moore of Cobden, Ill., Nancy Fulton of Cape Girardeau, Mary Lively of Benton, Ark., Patricia Schmoker of Kennesaw, Ga., and Sue Zan Houchins of Jackson; a sister, Mary Crader of Jefferson City; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A son, sister and grandchild preceded him in death.
Friends may call Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral chapel, with the Rev. George Brewer officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau. VFW Post 3838 will conduct graveside services.
