Clyde Metzger, 77, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, July 31, 2001, at Chateau Health Center.
He was born Nov. 7, 1923, in Turrell, Ark., son of Clarence and Irene Davis Metzger. He and Orneda McKinzie were married in January 1948. She died Oct. 15, 2000.
Metzger was a self-employed carpet installer many years and worked for various construction companies and carpet outlets in Cape Girardeau County. He was a member of First Christian Church.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Asiatic Pacific Campaign. He received three Overseas Service Bars and two Bronze Stars.
Survivors include a daughter, Phyllis McGee of Shreveport, La.; two sisters, Marria Sheetz of Searcy, Ark., Golda Flint of Morgan City, La.; and two grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau after 11 a.m. Thursday.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The Rev. Philip Curran will officiate. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
