Clyde Besand
PERRYVILLE, Mo. — Clyde J. "Blackie" Besand, 74, of Perryville died Thursday, Oct. 2, 2008, at Saint Francis Medical Center. He was a resident of the Missouri Veterans Home.
He was born Oct. 23, 1933, at Perryville, son of Bertrand G. and Frances Ann McCauley Besand.
Besand was a farmer. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, a lifetime member of VFW Post 4282, Perry County Sportsman Club, AMVETS Post 94, Elks Lodge 2701 and American Legion Post 133. Besand was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include two brothers, Gilbert Besand and Kenneth Besand, both of Perryville; two sisters, Mary Lou Kephardt of Kearney, Mo., Ruth Basler of Perryville.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Young and Sons Funeral Home in Perryville. A VFW wake will be at 7 p.m.; a Catholic wake will be at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continues from 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, with the Rev. Joe Williams officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Military graveside service will be provided by VFW Post 4282.
