CHAFFEE -- Clyde A. Eichhorn, 76, of Chaffee, died Monday, Dec. 23, 1996, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. He was born Sept. 9, 1920, in Oran, son of the late Edward and Nora Dannenmueller Eichhorn. He was a first mate for Cargill Carriers River Division of Minneapolis and served in the South Pacific during World War II...

CHAFFEE -- Clyde A. Eichhorn, 76, of Chaffee, died Monday, Dec. 23, 1996, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Sept. 9, 1920, in Oran, son of the late Edward and Nora Dannenmueller Eichhorn. He was a first mate for Cargill Carriers River Division of Minneapolis and served in the South Pacific during World War II.

He married Josephine Uhrhan July 15, 1944. She survives.

He was a member of the Chaffee Elks Lodge #1810, VFW Post #3127, Knights of Columbus Council #4311 and St. Ambrose Men's Club.

He is survived by four sons, Ronald, Gilbert, Clyde Jr. and Michael Eichhorn, all of Chaffee; two daughters, Barbara Simpson and Deborah Powderly, both of Chaffee; two brothers, Marvin Eichhorn of Chaffee, and Ervin Eichhorn of Kelso; two sisters, Rose Taller and Coena Uhrhan, both of Chaffee; 19 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, three brothers and one sister.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel, where the parish prayers will be said at 7 p.m. followed by an Elks service at 7:30 p.m.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Chaffee with the Rev. Allan Saunders officiating. Burial will be in the St. Ambrose Catholic Cemetery.
