Cloyd E. Reavis Sr., 80, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, July 20, 2000, at his home.
He was born Sept. 4, 1919, in McClure, Ill., son of James B. and Agnes Charles Reavis. He and Helen McCullough were married Sept. 11, 1937. She died Oct. 6, 1979. He and Mattie Calhoun Retherford were married March 19, 1981, in Cape Girardeau. She died Dec. 5, 1999.
Reavis played with several baseball teams in Southern Illinois.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of American Legion.
Survivors include two sons, Richard Reavis of Dongola, Ill., Cloyd Reavis Jr. of Brandon, Fla.; three daughters, Kay Reavis of Cape Girardeau, Brenda Schuetz of Belleville, Ill., Linda Buchheit of Jacksonville, Ark.; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother and three sisters.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel from 4-8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the chapel, with the Rev. Doyle W. Randol officiating. Burial will be in Lindsey Cemetery at McClure.
