JACKSON, Mo. -- Clinton Ben Wendel, 72, of Jackson died Thursday, July 27, 2000, at his home. He was born June 1, 1928, in Jackson, son of Benjamin F. and Flora E. Kasten Wendel. He and Lois Kassel were married June 29, 1963. JACKSON, Mo. -- Clinton Ben Wendel, 72, of Jackson died Thursday, July 27, 2000, at his home.

He was born June 1, 1928, in Jackson, son of Benjamin F. and Flora E. Kasten Wendel. He and Lois Kassel were married June 29, 1963.

Wendel had worked at the former Jackson Hosiery Mill, retired as a mail carrier in Jackson in 1992 and continued to work the family farm between Jackson and Gordonville, Mo.

He was a lifetime member of Emanuel United Church of Christ, member of American Legion Post 158 and the National Rifle Association. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife and a sister, Betty Sander of Columbia, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 5-8 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Sam Roethemeyer officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.
