CAIRO, Ill. -- Clinton A. (Bill) Holmes of Cairo died Friday, Aug. 9, 1991, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. Holmes, 69, was a member of Tigert Memorial United Methodist Church. CAIRO, Ill. -- Clinton A. (Bill) Holmes of Cairo died Friday, Aug. 9, 1991, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Holmes, 69, was a member of Tigert Memorial United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of World War II, and served in the European Theater. He was a member of the Mounds VFW Club.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Holmes, Cairo; two daughters, Pamela Upshaw, Granite City, Ill., and Patsy Shadwich of Arlington, Ky.; son, Richard Allen Holmes, Cairo; sisters, Lola Upshaw, Cairo, Ludean Dodson of Cairo and Leta Faye Phillips of Lousiville, Ky.; and seven grandchildren.

Service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Crain Funeral Home in Cairo, with Rev. Kenneth Provines officiating. Burial will be in the Mound City National Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home between 5:30 and 8 p.m. Monday.
