Clifford A. Pobst, 94, of Chaffee passed away Saturday, July 6, 2024, at his cabin in Zalma.

He was born June 9, 1930, in Caney to Matthew and Elenora Susan Gosche Pobst and married Mary Rose Finch Pobst on April 2, 1949.

While his large, beautiful family was his biggest accomplishment, he also had a 40-year career with the railroad. Cliff began working on the Frisco Railroad in 1951 as an engineer. He was the local chairman and served as the vice general chairman of the Engineers Union BLE. He retired from the railroad in 1991. During and beyond those years, he was a local businessman as well. He was also a member of Elks Lodge No. 1810 in Chaffee and Knights of Columbus and was a faithful member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Chaffee.

Most of his time was spent at his farm, where he always had an open door to his family and friends to enjoy the serenity of nature there. He loved St. Louis Cardinals baseball, traveling and keeping up with friends and distant relations.

He is survived by his brother, Larry (Glenda) Pobst of Chaffee; eight children, Diana Wood of Kansas City, Missouri, Sandy (Eddie) Robinson of Louisville, Kentucky, Vicki (Keith) Keller of Gordonville, Mark (Tina) Pobst of Chaffee, Ginny Ruiz of Chaffee, Shawn (Sherry) Pobst of Chaffee, Mary (Lou) Evans of Scott City and Lisa (Richard) Loree of Kansas City; 20 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
