ELCO, Ill. -- Clifford Hazelwood, 80, of Elco, died Wednesday, Jan. 1, 1992, at St. Francis Medical Center. He was born June 11, 1911, at Elco, son of Sam and Ivo Provo Hazelwood. He was a member of the Elco Methodist Church, the Happy Hour Senior Citizens and the Kitchen Band. He was retired from the Gulf, Mobile and Ohio Railroad. ELCO, Ill. -- Clifford Hazelwood, 80, of Elco, died Wednesday, Jan. 1, 1992, at St. Francis Medical Center.

He was born June 11, 1911, at Elco, son of Sam and Ivo Provo Hazelwood.

He was a member of the Elco Methodist Church, the Happy Hour Senior Citizens and the Kitchen Band. He was retired from the Gulf, Mobile and Ohio Railroad. He was also a member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers.

He was married to Marie Hazelwood, who survives of Elco. Other survivors are two sons, Perry C. Hazelwood of Elco and Melvin Hazelwood of Fordyce, Ark.; three daughters, Emma Dell Bennett of Tamms, Shirley Jane Hamilton of Bonners Ferry, Idaho, and Sammy Thompson of Affton; two step sons, H.C. Lawrence of Anna, Ill. and Clifton Lawrence of Madison, Ind.; three step daughters, Roberta Eickelman of Dongola, Laneta Pettit of Golden Eagle, Ill; and Louise Watson of Manhattan, Ill.; one brother, Bill Hazelwood of Wickliffe, Ky.; one sister, Ruth Vincent of Owensville, Ky.; 14 grandchildren, 16 step grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and 16 step great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

Friends may call today from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Crain Funeral Home in Tamms and again before time of service, which will be held Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Tom Bailey will officiate. Burial will be at St. John's Cemetery.
