Clifford Boyer

Clifford John Boyer, 71, of Jackson, passed away Thursday, Feb. 20, 2020 at his home.

He was born Jan. 30, 1949, in Wood River, Illinois, son of Raymond George and June Marie Neunaber Boyer. Cliff married Ellen "Krickett" Frymire on May 10, 1968.

Cliff was a graduate of Roxanna High School in Roxanna, Illinois. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having been inducted in 1968 and honorably discharged at the rank of Chief Warrant Officer-4 in 1989. While in service Cliff served 1 and 1/2 years in Vietnam, 10 years in Germany, two years in Hawaii, and the rest in the continental U.S. Cliff was awarded four bronze stars, the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation (awarded in recognition of deeds, valor and heroic conduct), he also was awarded many other medals and accommodations during his service. Cliff worked for the Aid Association for Lutherans, and later retired from SIU Edwardsville.

Loving survivors include his wife of 52 years Krickett; sons, Cliff (Sheryl) Boyer of Bunker Hill, Illinois, and Travis Boyer of Windsor, Illinois; grandchildren, Noah, Sam, Ellynn, and Pierce Boyer; great grandchild, Ryder Boyer; and sisters, Mary Ann (Doug) Woods of Redding, California, and Cindy (the late Hoss) Melton of Alton, Illinois.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with the Rev. John Dehne officiating. Interment, with full military honors, will be at 3 p.m. at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to St. Andrew's Lutheran Church.
