THEBES, Ill. -- Clifford Adams, 74, of Thebes died Saturday, March 19, 2016, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Aug. 1, 1941, in Gale, Illinois, to Floyd and Alma (Prater) Adams. He married Delores Knupp on Sept. 30, 1966. She survives.

Clifford retired from the Illinois Department of Transportation, where he served as a maintenance supervisor. After retiring, he held many jobs to keep himself busy. He served as an emergency medical technician, and he drove buses and taxi cabs for the city of Cape Girardeau and, most recently, a school bus for the Meridian School District.

He was a member of the Thebes First Baptist Church. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and collecting John Deere items.

Clifford is survived by his wife, Delores of Thebes; two sons, Clifford Mark Adams and Jerry Carson (Missy) Adams, both of Thebes; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Jessie Waring of Thebes; a brother, Richard Adams of Murphysboro, Illinois; nieces; nephews; and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister; three brothers; and a great-granddaughter.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral service Wednesday at Crain Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

The service will be at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jae McHughs officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Thebes.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church in Thebes and will be accepted at the funeral home.
