PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Cletus T. Winkler, 85, of Perryville died May 27, 2012, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Cletus was born April 7, 1927, in Perry County, to Theodore Winkler and Louise Ponder Winkler. He married Anna Leible, who survives, on Oct. 20, 1951, at Apple Creek, Mo.
An avid hunter and fisherman, Cletus Winkler was a self-employed painter and a World War II Army veteran. He was very involved with the Apple Creek Organizational Baseball League and managed several teams.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Apple Creek and of the Parish Men's Organization. Cletus was also a member of the American Legion and the VFW.
He was a loving husband to Anna Winkler, and he was the loving father to Randal (Susan) Winkler of Cape Girardeau.
Other survivors are three brothers, Thomas Winkler of St. Louis, and Hubert Winkler and Walter Winkler, both of Perryville.
Cletus was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Miller Family Funeral Home in Perryville. Parish prayers are scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday. The rosary will be recited at 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church-Apple Creek. The Rev. Tony Dattilo will officiate. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery-Apple Creek, with graveside military honors courtesy of the American Legion Post 133 and the Delta Team.
The family requests memorials to the St. Joseph Church Building Fund.
