Cletus Schmitt

CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Cletus Robert Schmitt, 76, of Chaffee passed away Monday, Sept. 7, 2020, at Cape Girardeau Health and Rehabilitation Center in Cape Girardeau.

Cletus was born March 24, 1944, in Chaffee to the late Linus and Maudie Biby Schmitt.

He proudly served as a corporal in the Army.

He is survived by his brother, Donald Schmitt of Chaffee; nephew, Michael Schmitt of Chaffee; nieces, Stephanie Palmer of Chaffee and Candy Cannon of Corpus Christi, Texas; and aunts, Mearl Slack of Bardwell, Kentucky, and Lucille Schmitt of Chaffee.

Apart from his parents, Cletus was preceded in death by a brother, Theon Schmitt.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Joseph Kelly officiating. Burial, with full military honors, will follow in the St. Ambrose Catholic Cemetery at Chaffee.
