PORTAGEVILLE -- Funeral service for Cletis Dacus of Portageville will be held at 11 a.m. today at DeLisle Funeral Home. The Rev. Mark Inman will officiate, with burial in Portageville Cemetery.
Dacus, 77, died Tuesday, Aug. 27, 1996, at his home.
He was born Dec. 22, 1918, in Portageville, son of James Olian and Blanche Mae Hall Dacus. He and Irma Brown were married Dec. 6, 1947, in Isola, Miss.
Dacus was a member of First Baptist Church and VFW Post. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; a son, James Dacus of Pontiac, Mich.; a daughter, Susan Dacus of Pontiac; three brothers, Sibert Dacus of Sikeston, Gene Dacus of Santa Maria, Calif., Glen Dacus of The Woodlands, Texas; two sisters, Euladean Farmer and Connie Shankle of Portageville; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, two brothers and a sister.
