Cleo Stevens ADVANCE, Mo. -- Cleo Proffer Stevens, 87, of Advance passed away Friday, May 22, 2009, at Advance Nursing Center. She was born Nov. 1, 1921, at Swinton, Mo., daughter of Walter and Flora Belle Capps Proffer. She and Dennis Stevens were married June 17, 1944, in Denton, Texas. He died Feb. 26, 2004...

ADVANCE, Mo. -- Cleo Proffer Stevens, 87, of Advance passed away Friday, May 22, 2009, at Advance Nursing Center.

She was born Nov. 1, 1921, at Swinton, Mo., daughter of Walter and Flora Belle Capps Proffer. She and Dennis Stevens were married June 17, 1944, in Denton, Texas. He died Feb. 26, 2004.

Cleo retired after 21 years at Carter Carburetor Co. in St. Louis. She was a member of AFL-CIO Union in St. Louis and Bethel General Baptist Church.

Survivors include a niece, Norma Jackson of St. Louis.

She was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to service time Tuesday at Morgan Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, with the Rev. Ray Placher officiating. Burial will be in Morgan Memorial Park in Advance.
