EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. -- Cleo F. Kruckeberg, 81, of Edwardsville died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2005, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, Ill.
He was born July 4, 1923, in Worden, Ill., son of Henry H. and Hilka Henke Kruckeberg. He married Mildred Kohlmiller April 14, 1946, in Wood River, Ill.
He was a self-employed farmer for 30 years in Pin Oak Township, and operated Kruckeberg Excavation for 30 years.
Surviving include his wife; a daughter, Carol A. Elfert of Jackson; two sons, Cleo K. Kruckeberg of Glen Carbon, Ill., and Robert H. Kruckeberg of Santa Fe, Texas; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Saksa Mateer Funeral Home in Edwardsville, and for an hour prior to the funeral.
The funeral begins at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Friedens UCC Church in Troy, Ill. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery Midway with the Rev. Scott Hawker officiating.
