PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Clayton J. Bohnert, 89, of Perryville died Saturday, March 31, 2007, at his home.
He was born Oct. 25, 1917, at Crosstown, Mo., son of Martin W. and Mary Corinne Petot Bohnert.
He and Dorothy Guyott were married June 8, 1943.
He had been employed with Pittsburg Plate Glass.
He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. He was in the Army in World War II, serving with the Sixth Armored Division. He received a Bronze Star, a Good Conduct Medal, Meritorious Service Award and five battle stars.
He was a retired command sergeant major and member of the National Guard and American Legion Post 133.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Steve Bohnert and Brian Bohnert, both of Perryville, Kevin Bohnert of Jackson; two daughters, Judy Huber and Vickie Schamburg, both of Perryville; two brothers, Martin "Shorty" Bohnert of Perryville, Clyde "Jack" Bohnert of Fenton, Mo.; a sister, Dorothy "Dottie" Meyer of Frohna, Mo.; 16 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, four sisters and a grandson.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday at Young and Sons Chapel. A Catholic wake will be at 7 p.m. Monday, and an American Legion wake will follow at 7:15 p.m.
Friends may call from 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. The rosary will be recited at 9 a.m. Tuesday.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville, with the Revs. Kevin Fausz and Alphonse Hoernig officiating. Burial will be in St. James Catholic Cemetery in Crosstown, with graveside military honors provided by Delta Team.
