GLEN ALLEN -- Claude Boyd Jr., 74, of Glen Allen, died Wednesday, April 7, 1993, at his home.
He was born Jan. 2, 1919, at Combine, Texas, son of Claude Boyd and Vevy Lewis Boyd. He and Helen Vance were married June 15, 1961. in Balleo, Calif.
Boyd was an electronic engineer with Curtis Mathes Corp. 13 years. He was a member of Old Trace Creek Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge 545 AF&AM at Zalma, Amaranth Court 14 in Cape Girardeau, VFW Post 5900 at Marble Hill, was a 32nd Degree Mason with Valley of St. Louis, member of USS Chester Ship Mates and the retired officers association.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Michael Boyd of Houston, Texas, Paul Boyd of New York, Texas, Ronald Boyd of Garland, Texas, David Nelson of Phoenix, Ariz.; two daughters, Betty Bristow of New York, Texas, Mary Walker of Norfolk, Va.; a brother, Willis Boyd of Belleville, Ill.; a sister, Earlene Morrell of Riverside, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at McGee Chapel Church, with the Rev. Bill Moss officiating. Burial will be at McGee Chapel Cemetery, with graveside rites by Zalma Masonic Lodge.
Morgan Funeral Home at Advance is in charge of arrangements.
Friends may call at the Boyd house from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. today.
