ESSEX -- Clarence Swinger, 72, of Essex died Monday, May 8, 2000, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
He was born Sept. 28, 1927, at Frisco, son of Herschel and Gladys Snider Swinger. He and Leatrice Joy Fox were married Aug. 3, 1985, at Castor River Church.
Swinger had lived near Essex 15 years. He was a member of Second General Baptist Church at Dexter and Dexter Masonic Lodge. He previously lived in Michigan and retired as a salesman with Matco Tools.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Michael Swinger of Michigan; a daughter, Mary Tinker of Michigan; two stepsons, Bruce Ivy of Bloomfield and Phillip Ivy of Dexter.
Also surviving are five brothers, Harry and Otis Swinger of Dexter, Junior Swinger of St. Louis, Chester Swinger of Indiana, Marlon Swinger of Morehouse; a sister, Fern Gaines of Dexter; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
Friends may call at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Randy Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Hagy Cemetery at Dexter.
