KELSO, Mo. -- Clarence Anton Staebel, 84, of Kelso died Friday, April 29, 2005, at Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born March 8, 1921, at Kelso, son of John Simon and Catharina Blattel Staebel. He and Rita Ida Grojean were married Aug. 8, 1944, at New Hamburg, Mo.
Staebel had been a shipping supervisor at Ely Walker and a salesman with Cauble and Field. He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Kelso, VFW Post 6407 and Knights of Columbus Council 6420 in Scott City.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Raymond Staebel of Houston, Texas; three daughters, Mary Gosche of Cape Girardeau, Kathleen West of Cuba, Mo., Judy Flournoy of Houston; a sister, Agnes Bendel of Cape Girardeau; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Parish prayers will be at 6 and Knights of Columbus service at 6:15.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Augustine Church, with the Rev. Oliver Clavin officiating. Burial will be in St. Augustine Cemetery, with military rites conducted by Missouri Honors Program.
