Clarence J. Bullinger, 78, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, Nov. 23, 1996, at St. Francis Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 18, 1918, in the Perkins area, the son of Albert J. and Louise E. Kirn Bullinger.
Clarence served his country in the Navy from 1942-1945 during World War II.
He and Laura Louise Loos were married on May 26, 1941. She preceded him in death in 1980.
Clarence worked at the Jackson Hosiery Mill for 20 years and retired from the Jackson Bowling Lanes, where he was manager and part owner, after 23 years.
On Feb. 14, 1985, he married L. Louise Todt.
Clarence was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral and was very active in the marriage encounter program and Cursillo. He was a 4th-degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1111, American Legion of Jackson, VFW of Cape Girardeau and the Exchange Club.
He was inducted into the Missouri State Bowling Association Hall of Fame and the Cape Girardeau District Bowling Association Hall of Fame.
He is survived by his wife, Louise Todt Bullinger of Cape Girardeau; his children, Roy Bullinger and Mary Hartje, both of suburban Chicago, and Patricia Tollison and Joe Bullinger of Jackson; nine grandchildren; Louise Bullinger's children, Richard Todt and George Todt of California, Laura Todt Stockman of Texas and David Todt of Iowa, four grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and one sister, Edna Hawthorne of Jackson.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. today, Nov. 25, at the Lorberg Memorial Funeral Chapel, 829 N. West End Blvd. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m. followed by a Knights of Columbus rosary. There will be a Knights of Columbus 4th-degree Honor Guard.
The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 26, at St. Mary's Cathedral with Msgr. Richard Rolwing officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery with a memorial service by VFW Post 3838.
